Diversity, equality and inclusion

DP-R|EX is committed to the diversity and equality of all people and actively works to ensure that this is recognised and respected. We firmly reject any discrimination and group-based emnity based on gender and gender identities, sexual orientation, colour, ethnic background and nationality, creed and religion, age, mental and physical status, health or other characteristics. Furthermore, we are committed to the liberal-democratic constitutional order and its intuitions and representatives, and thus to the fundamental principles of human dignity, democracy and the rule of law.

Towards a critical documentation practice in the social sciences

In empirical R|EX research, the use of more or less socially constructed concepts of difference in data collection, documentation and analysis is usually obligatory. However, the understanding of such terminologies is itself in a continuous discursive process in which research approaches and terminologies are critically questioned and continuously adapted to new social and linguistic developments.

With this in mind, we aim to avoid the use of stigmatising or discriminatory terms in the domian-specific description of research data, as long as it can still be ensured that researchers can find the data and understand its content.

We are constantly working to ensure that all content and terminology used to describe research data is as appropriate and inclusive as possible, and endeavour to reflect and respond quickly to changes in meaning. However, studies referenced in the DP-R|EX data explorer may contain content (e.g. historical or outdated terms) that is no longer considered respectful or appropriate. DP-R|EX itself has no control over existing or emerging studies and their content, but we would like to point out here that these may be perceived as extremely distressing, uncomfortable or disturbing and ask users to use them with caution.
