Data access
The processing and reuse of the data corpora generated within the framework of DP-R|EX are based on the legal provisions of Article 9 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Section 27 (1) of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). These provisions permit the reuse of personal data for scientific research purposes, as research on and the prevention of hate speech and online radicalisation processes are considered to be in the public interest. In order to protect research subjects and to ensure compliance with data protection regulations as well as research ethics standards, access to the data is safeguarded through the following measures:
User agreement: Researchers are required to conclude a user agreement that specifies the legal and research ethics framework in accordance with the principles of good scientific practice and clearly defines the research project.
Data-related code of conduct: Researchers commit to a code of conduct that ensures the responsible and appropriate handling of the data.
Access restrictions: Datasets are made available exclusively to authorised individuals through an appropriate technical security framework using personal access credentials. Upon completion of data processing for scientific purposes, researchers are required to delete the data.
